Weekly Club Competitions https://buttermountaingolf.ie/news/weekly-club-competitions/ https://buttermountaingolf.ie/news/weekly-club-competitions/#respond Thu, 02 Feb 2023 16:16:00 +0000 Club Competitions on:

  • Wednesdays,€5 from 7.40am~10.24am. (open to visitors & guests from Mid April).
  • Saturdays 7.40am~10.24am & Sundays 7.40am~8.56am (€6, to include 2’s club).

It is preferred that members use the designated Howdidido Comp tee-times above, but you can still play in the comp outside these times and book via the course BRS system.

The good news is: and unique to our club, the % paid out is very high from Competition fees.
e.g. 14/1/23 €192 collected, €160 paid into the wallets of the 5 prize winners, with approx €25 then going into the 2’s club pot, the remainder to the club.
The committee also tries to spread out the amount of prizes, as opposed to giving out one large prize.
When first joining the €63 annual fee includes:
  •  €28  Golf Ireland affiliation
  •  €25  insurance
  • €8  Printing of GolfIreland Smartcard
  • €2 To Club

The club has ongoing costs, e.g. entry into interclub events. The biggest annual cost is the Software to run the Touchscreen, which includes the Howdidido and ClubV1 members apps @ €2,154

Contributions from weekly Comp entries enable the club to function.

New Members Guide 2023 https://buttermountaingolf.ie/news/new-members-guide-2023/ https://buttermountaingolf.ie/news/new-members-guide-2023/#respond Mon, 30 Jan 2023 20:53:00 +0000   Rules for beginners – Golf Ireland

 World Golf Handicap Pocket guide

Weekly Club Competition’s

When inputting a card at an away course it will go onto your
record automatically (if it’s an official competition). If it’s just a
casual round with another Golfireland member you ( & you choose to submit a round)  will need to sign-in on
the Golfireland app pre round
,
then input that card asap after game.       (You
must
still be on-site
at that club in order for it to work),

All society cards should be returned
on the app too in the same manner as above, if you are having problems
with the app send on a photo of your card, but only when you’ve
exhausted the above advice.

Step 1: Install the howdidido app, When you submit 3 cards a Handicap index will be allocated.

( In addition you can send a photo via email or WhatsApp to speed up the process).

Please put the 3 scorecards in an envelope marked “For Handicap” and leave at the course reception.

  • Cards submitted in the Winter season: a temporary domestic Handicap will be allocated.
  • Cards submitted in the Qualifying period April to end of October: an initial Golfireland handicap will be allocated, you will need 20 qualifying cards thru the season to have a fully developed Handicap (this will allow entry to interclub competitions in 2024).

After
Handicap index allocation you will then have access to the HDID tee
time booking system for Competitions and casual golf at the course.

Step 2: Install the Golf Ireland app, use this to track your Handicap index.
The pin number for registering is on the back of your Golf Ireland member card.
Step 3: install the BRS booking app for Tee time bookings outside of competition times
For issues relating to BRS contact Amanda at reception.
Step 4: (optional)  You may want to download a GPS Golf app.
To
comply with the rules of Competition golf the GPS app can only give
advice on Distance, not measure wind speed or direction etc. Try not to
let such devices interfere with pace of play.
Example of a free App with the Course mapped on it is below

7th & 14th Staking https://buttermountaingolf.ie/news/7th-14th-staking/ https://buttermountaingolf.ie/news/7th-14th-staking/#respond Tue, 27 Sep 2022 19:32:00 +0000

Note a slight change to the penalty area above. If a ball crosses into the penalty area over/between 2 yellow stakes you have the following options.
  • Under penalty, play again from the position you are in. (Option 1 in diagram below)
  • Proceed to penalty area & Play the ball as it lies
  • Under penalty, drop a ball on the line of flag position & the point where you last crossed the margin of hazard. Going back as far as desired > Option2 in diagram below

  • The only difference for crossing over/between 2 red stakes is: you have an extra option of dropping 2 club lengths from where you last crossed the margin (not nearer the flag position), But you cannot drop within or have your stance inside the penalty area.
The penalty area will be reviewed after a site visit from a Golfireland rules official, where extra options e.g. Drop Zones will be considered.
